Therapy for those who feel different

I work with people who feel out of sync with those around them. Many of my clients are neurodivergent, expats, or members of the LGBT+ community.

In therapy, we address challenges such as:

  • Feeling misunderstood or unseen.

  • Social disconnection.

  • Struggles with identity and self-acceptance.

  • Mental health pressures.

  • Navigating complex systems.

  • Feeling “othered” in daily life.

Together, we create a supportive space to explore these challenges, develop practical strategies, and find ways to feel more aligned with yourself and the world around you.

Can you relate to this?

  • Want to live by your values, but feel stuck in compromises.

  • Caught in repeating cycles of self-defeating thoughts and behaviours.

  • Exhausted from masking, yet doubt you’d be accepted as you are.

  • Struggle with anxiety, overthinking, and racing thoughts.

  • Find decision-making hard, as every choice feels wrong.

  • Facing an existential crisis, questioning meaning.

  • Feel lonely and struggle to form deep, fulfilling relationships.

Many of my clients are used to understanding complex concepts and solving unusual problems — yet when it comes to their own feelings, life can feel much harder.

If this resonates with you, counselling can be a space to explore these struggles — with care, curiosity, and support.

My Approach

I base my work primarily on schema therapy, which helps identify patterns of behaviour, thoughts, and emotions that contribute to feelings of being stuck. We work with all aspects of human experience, such as emotions, thoughts, behaviours, and experiences, to break free from the influence of childhood trauma and develop flexible ways of responding to life’s challenges.

For existential questions—such as those related to death, life’s meaning, choice, loneliness, or chronic conditions—I draw on ideas from existential psychotherapy and ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy).

In certain cases, when a specific goal needs to be achieved, I also incorporate coaching techniques.

My Professional Values

I meet each person where they are, offering as much support and structure as feels helpful, and adjusting as the work unfolds. Therapy is a collaborative process, focused on reflection, understanding, and finding ways forward at your pace.

I take a respectful, non-pathologising approach, seeing symptoms as meaningful responses that once served a protective purpose. Change comes through a mix of thinking, feeling, doing, and experiencing, supported by a safe and equal therapeutic relationship.

The Process of Counselling

I offer two main formats of counselling, tailored to your needs.

  • Long-term, open-ended therapy is ideal for exploring long-standing emotional patterns, negative self-perception, or the influence of childhood experiences. This flexible approach allows depth and free exploration without a fixed timeframe.

  • Short-term, time-limited counselling (10 sessions) focuses on a specific, clearly defined issue, such as work stress, burnout, or a relationship challenge. This structured format provides practical support within a clear framework.

You can also begin with a single consultation, with no ongoing commitment.

Managing Expectations

I work with adults who are self-motivated to explore their experiences and make changes in their lives. Therapy is most effective when the desire to change comes from you, not someone else.
